This page explains what happens to your data when you visit yunjaego.com, leave a comment, or download one of my guides. Short version: I don't run analytics or ad trackers, I don't sell anything about you, and I only see what you choose to send me.
Who runs this site
yunjaego.com is run by Yunjae, a Korean creator (@yunjaekorean on Instagram). I'm the one responsible for your data here. For anything about privacy, email me at [email protected].
What I collect and why
When you just read the site. Like every website, the servers that deliver these pages log basic technical data: your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for and the time. My host (Hostinger) and my security and speed service (Cloudflare) use these logs to keep the site running and to block attacks. I don't use them to identify you and I don't combine them with anything else. Legal basis: legitimate interest in a secure, working website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
When you leave a comment. You give your name, email address and comment. I also store your IP address and browser details to help catch spam. Your email address is never shown publicly. Your name and comment are public. WordPress may send a scrambled version of your email address (a hash) to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture there. Comments stay up until you ask me to remove them. Legal basis: your consent and my legitimate interest in moderating comments.
When you email me. I keep your email so I can reply, and delete conversations I no longer need.
When you download a guide. My free and paid guides are delivered by Gumroad. Gumroad is the seller and handles checkout, payment and tax, under its own privacy policy. I receive your name, email address and what you got, so I can deliver it, help if something goes wrong, and tell you when a guide is updated. You can unsubscribe from any email with one click. I never see your card details.
Cookies
This site does not use analytics, advertising or social media tracking cookies. The cookies that can appear here:
- Comment cookies (WordPress). If you comment and tick "save my name", your name and email are stored in your own browser for up to a year so you don't have to type them again.
- Security cookie (Cloudflare). A short-lived cookie that helps tell real visitors from bots.
- Hotel booking links (Stay22). A small script from Stay22 adds affiliate tracking to hotel links (Booking.com, Agoda and others). It is only used to credit me when you book through my link.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links (Booking.com and Agoda through Stay22, and Klook). If you click one and book, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Once you leave my site, the booking site sets its own cookies and its own privacy policy applies. I only see totals like "2 bookings this month", never who booked or what.
Fonts
Fonts on this site load from Google Fonts. To do that, your browser connects to Google's servers, which see your IP address. Google says it does not use this to build profiles.
Who else handles data
- Hostinger (hosting, servers in the EU)
- Cloudflare (security and speed, worldwide)
- Gumroad (guide downloads and payments, USA)
- Stay22 (hotel affiliate links, Canada)
- Klook (activity affiliate links)
- Google (fonts, and Search Console, which only shows me how the site appears in Google search, not who you are)
Some of these companies are outside the EU. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, an EU adequacy decision (for example for Canada) or the EU's standard contract clauses.
Your rights
You can ask me at any time to see the data I have about you, correct it, delete it, limit how I use it, or get a copy of it. You can also object to how I use it and withdraw consent you gave. Just email me and I'll answer within a month.
If you think I've handled your data badly, you can complain to a data protection authority, for example the one in the country where you live. In Austria that's the Datenschutzbehörde (dsb.gv.at).
Kids
This site is written for adult travelers and isn't aimed at children under 16. If you think a child has sent me personal data, email me and I'll delete it.
Changes
If I change how I handle data, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
